Fernie has a range of restaurants and bars, both at Fernie Alpine Resort and in the town of Fernie.

Restaurants Fernie Alpine Resort

The Fernie ski resort only has a handful of restaurants for evening dining.

The Lizard Creek Lodge restaurant, Cirque, is a gourmet extravaganza, and for such fine dining the prices are very reasonable. The main courses are superb and the wine list extensive, but save room for dessert because the desserts are to die for!

For a pub style meal try Legend’s in the Cornerstone Lodge. Pastas and burgers abound, and with a mellow sports bar atmosphere, this is a good place for an informal feed.

Rusty Edge Restaurant at the Griz Inn is another option for a casual meal.

For a quick breakfast go to the Slopeside Coffee and Deli in the Cornerstone Lodge. Or if you want a more leisurely breakfast, go to the Lizard Creek Lodge.

Fernie Restaurants

The town of Fernie has a large range of restaurants including inexpensive cafes for daytime fare, pizza joints, casual restaurants, and upscale restaurants for a special night out. Fernie has plenty of international flare with three Chinese restaurants, a Thai restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, and the gorgeous Yamagoya Japanese restaurant (Highway #3, 741 7th Avenue); a genuine Japanese experience with tatami mats and all the sushi you could poke a stick at.

The Old Elevator Restaurant (291 1st Avenue) is a unique dining experience. The old building is a tourist attraction in itself, but the main attraction is the wine list and the steaks, salmon and top notch food.

Nevados (531 2 Ave Fernie) serves up tasty Latin-American inspired tapas and delightfully dangerous tequila fuelled cocktails.

For daytime fare, the Mugshots Café (592 3rd Avenue) specializes in coffee. They also have a range of daytime yummies including paninis, soups, pies, and sausage rolls.

Bars & Nightlife Fernie Alpine Resort

The #1 après bar is the Griz Bar in the day lodge. It’s occasionally mellow but the bar is generally humming, and on the weekends there’s often live music to fire things up a little further. Sunny days are particularly vibrant on the deck.

Adjacent to the Griz is Legend’s, a traditional pub-restaurant that is happening at times.

The Lizard Creek Lodge lounge is a chic place for an après drink whilst relaxing on one of the comfie leather armchairs or couches. The lure of happy hour snacks and the views of the mountains also add to the experience. And if the patrollers are doing any control work to set off avalanches, you’ll be sitting in front row seats to watch any spectacular action. The Ice Bar at Lizard Creek Lodge is good for a vodka cocktail, but you probably don’t want to hang out there for too long.
